May and June 2004, I went to a Study Abroad Program in Kyoto, while I was doing a Master Degree.
We spend 6 weeks visiting Kyoto and the area. Visiting Textile artists, Kimono makers, learning with major textiles artists some traditional japanese Katazome, Washu, Indigo...

This Study Abroad Program is organized by Pr. Glenn Kaufmann from Georgia University. This trip was mind blowing for me, it was as though going to the quintessential of Textile, meeting and learning from Artist that take Textile to the level of Fine Art.
I had seen a Textile Exhibit few years ago at the Metropolitan in NY that was about Japanese Textile and the company Nuno (i'll come back to this with more informations later). This exhibit and a Textile conference at the Japan Society in NY made me realize that I was more interested in the making of Textile than the making of garment.
